Katie's Childhood Home - On Newstands Now!

Traditional sunroom design with exposed brick wall, light grey sectional, and woven chairs by Katie Davis Design | Houston Interior Design

A while back, a potential client reached out about to revamp a 1950s ranch-style Houston home. Throughout the initial conversation, Katie realized the home they were chatting about was nonetheless, her childhood home! With much excitement, she agreed to take on the project. It was a “pinch me” moment to be able to bring more life to a space she knew so well and loved deeply. Today, another “pinch me” moment happened when that very house was featured in Good Housekeeping!

We will save all of the juicy details for the story in print, but wanted to share a few photos of the finished project for you all here — and save the transformation photos for print!

“In the powder room, the cabinetry’s green hue (Benjamin Moore’s Saybrook Sage) was pulled from the leaves on the floral wallpaper. The rectangular mirror with ruffled edges from Ballard Designs adds to the whimsical charm. Good Housekeeping, April 2023”

“In the entry nook (which was a cedar closet long before Davis’s parents reconfigured the area), varied shades of blue, paired with the mix of Schumacher textiles for the custom sofa and walls, keep the look fresh and appealing. Good Housekeeping, April 2023)”
